I did virtually zero bird photography in 2022 and early
2023. I had a minor surgery in late May 2023 that kept me off the unicycle
for a while. I eventually overcame the inertia and pulled out the camera
a couple of times in late June and early July. I sure wish I had this rig
when I was doing all my bird photography and traveling. Below are some
characteristic birds of open fields and scrub in Central Ohio that are
often seen along the bike trails I ride in the summer.

Below are some Field Sparrows taken on Nov. 29, 2021 with
the Canon R5 and 600II + 2x at the Deer Creek State Park soon after I got
the lens. My old 800mm wouldn't focus properly on my R5. After 5 trips
to Canon repair services I gave up on it and got an EF 600 f4 L IS II.
It works perfectly on my R5.
