This year I've only been keeping a list of species I encounter
while out riding my bicycle or 29" mountain unicycle along established
bike trails. I always have my binoculars along on my bike rides and am
constantly listerning. On unicycle rides I usually don't bring along binoculars,
but sometimes I put them in backpack. Many of these rides cross county
lines, but I'll only note the counties where there the new birds of the
year are actually seen. The only exceptions I will make are for unicycle
rides on roads or trails that aren't specifically bike trails such as closed
forest roads and bridle trails that are well suited to mountain unicycling
and closed to any motor vehicles. Species seen while driving down forest
roads don't make the cut.
